Introduction

From the Autumn of 2007, I started taking photos using toys and dolls. this has been quite a departure for me. The toy shots are highly contrived, usually involve very long exposures, and tend to be in colour. There's also usually a very heavy sexual content to these pictures, part of the initial point being to protest about the assumption that sex is behind the candid pictures (it isn't, usually).

Anyway, one of the many things I've come to learn in this phase has been that there are people who are really interested in dolls. This bit is for them, although they may be disappointed. We're not collectors, and for us the dolls are performing props. We don't respect the stuff printed on their backs - in fact we often remove it, together with moulded on knickers and other features that are evidence of a very sick world. But the range of shapes and ideas is fascinating, and you might be able to comment on the origin of some figures. Feel free.

Or you might want to suggest your own pictures. Fine, provided the copyright is yours, that they're not more suitable for Bondage Barbie and that, even in doll form, you're not depicting children in sexual situations.

Otherwise enjoy.
